I also need a Sound Recordist with same.

We'll be shooting 7/12, 7/20, 7/26 & 8/2.
And maybe some pick-up dates.

No pay, but screen credit, good food, DVD, two seats at premiere and undying gratitude.

Please reply by email or call 916-764-2476.
Thanks for your consideration.

3) News from the 'Sensored' Film front:< back to top
From Producer Jo Haskin

Our feature film, Sensored, Directed by Ryan Todd and produced by KeJo Productions is in this month's issue of MovieMaker Magazine. Thanks to our partnership with Silverado Systems for their continued marketing brilliance. Silverado has an add featuring our star Robert Picardo (Star Trek Voyager) as well as a nice article on the Red One Camera which includes another picture of Robert Picardo and Sacramento local talent Brian Rife. Look for the magazine with Robert Rodrigues on the cover!

4) How To Be The Best Movie Producer back to top
Read the valuable article from Wildsound.com – we will provide a series of items in upcoming newsletters that will provide important tips and information for all filmmakers and skill levels.

5) Shiny Objects Screenings for July back to top
Here it is! July's schedule -- and there's a free screening in here, too!!!

All screenings are at 600 4th St, West Sacramento, CA -- that's the corner of 4th & F in West Sac just over the river from downtown Sacramento.

Admission for all 7 PM movies is $5.00 (with the exception of the free night). And we continue to run Rocky Horror Fridays at 10 PM which is a separate $6.00 admission. We WILL still be around to run it on Friday, July 4 -- if anyone shows up for it.

And it's pretty much an all-music month in one way or another...

The Gits

We're showing this one on 3 different days:
7/4, 7/5 and 7/7 (no screening on 7/6)
7 PM each night $5

The rousing and heartbreaking story of Seattle band The Gits, whose promising start was cut short by the tragic murder of spirited lead singer Mia Zapata.

7/11

7 PM $5 Final Rinse

This obscure film not only features Joey Ramone in his final film role, but also Frank Gorshin, The Dictators, The Independents, Sebastian Bach, The Last Hard Men (with Bach and Kelley Deal), Biohazzard, and a packed soundtrack including The Ramones, Meat Puppets, Count Five, Twisted Sister, and The Bee Gees (?!?).

7/18

7 PM $5 Burst City

This early effort out of Japan may well be the closest filmic expression of punk rock ever created in a number of ways - from the grainy film, to the chaotic camera work, to the use of real punks and bands from the era.

And best of all - as a thanks to all of the MOBS friends who keep us going each week -- this one is FREE! Besides, ya shouldn't have to pay for anarchy. But you oughtta leave the kids at home for this one...

7/25

7 PM $5
Stomp! Shout! Scream!

It's summer -- so what better time to run the beach party rock and roll monster movie from "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" producer Jay Edwards!!

"Stomp! Shout! Scream!" is set in 1966 and intertwines the adventures of an all-girl garage rock band with the legend of the Skunk Ape (the Florida Everglades' version of Bigfoot).

THE MOSAIC ACTING SYSTEM
WHEN: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
SATURDAY & SUNDAY JULY 12 & 13
WHERE: The MOSAIC ACTING ACADEMY Rancho Cordova
(directions on receipt of deposit)

I've been acting and directing for over forty years, and I've never found anything as easy and effective, or as much fun to work with as The MOSAIC ACTING SYSTEM. (www.mosaicacting.com) It is the only acting system in the world that takes advantage of the fantastic advances made in general education through the application of a Learning Styles paradigm. I've taught and trained instructors in London, Toronto, and cities in the USA, as well as presenting Mosaic Acting to schools and teachers from middle-school to the University level, including the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. The WHELAN RECORDING TECHNIQUE is the perfect Whole Brain teaching/learning technique. Character, relationship, emotional base and line memorization are achieved with ease and speed never before experienced.

While emotions are the very core of the actors art, there has never been a program until EMOTIONOLOGY that provided the tools for actors to study them in an objective and systematic fashion MAS provides that and more.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
This class is appropriate for High School age and above, and actors at all levels of experience. Tuition is $300 and includes a copy of "Mosaic Acting System" ($50 discount if you have the book) (Prior Mosaic students may repeat for $200, space permitting.) 10) Filmmakers: Join 'The Conversation' back to top

The Conversation is a grass-roots gathering, developed by a group of filmmakers, investors, entrepreneurs, journalists, and consultants interested in the new creative and business opportunities - and new ways of connecting with audiences — that new technologies are presenting. Running into each other at film festivals and conferences, we began hatching this idea ...

Our hunch is that we're at an important moment in the history of technology and visual storytelling — a broad term that encompasses filmmaking, TV, online video, and narrative-driven games.

New software is making incredible things possible in visual effects and animation, and also democratizing those fields. Web sites offer to help finance film projects, or share ad revenue with video-makers. Marketing and release strategies are shifting by the minute. High-end high-def cameras are plummeting in price. The connection with the audience is changing. Established ways of doing things just don't seem to be working anymore, and the once-powerful power brokers seem to be losing their mojo.

Our goal is for The Conversation to delve into all those issues — and more, with your ideas, help, and participation. The Conversation will focus exclusively on the new business and creative opportunities that are emerging in 2008.

We expect every participant to bring his or her concerns, questions, or examples of what they've been doing and how well it's working, to share during the sessions or during the designated schmooze-time. (There's also an opportunity to present during a Saturday workshop session.)

The overall goal is for The Conversation to be a real exchange of ideas — a gathering of people working on the edge and thinking about the future.

The Conversation begins the morning of Friday, October 17th and continues through the afternoon of the 18th. We'll post the full agenda here as it develops, but a list of speakers and topics is below.

We're also eager to hear your ideas on other topics and speakers, or sessions you'd like to present yourself. (Saturday afternoon will offer multiple sessions running at once, while everyone will be together on Friday and Saturday morning.) Send those via e-mail, or post them on the event's wiki along with your name and contact info. We promise to follow up on all suggestions.

11) Crocker Art Museum seeks Warhol Film Buffs back to top

Hello, here at the Crocker Art Museum, we are planning on showing a couple of Andy Warhol films in conjunction with a new exhibition, American Pop: Featuring Andy Warhol's Athletes from the Richard Weisman Collection (on view at the Crocker August 16-November 2, 2008). We are looking for a few film buffs to lead and/or participate in an open discussion of Warhol's films.
