Sacramento Film & Music Festival

On the 8th day of the 8th month, the 8th annual Sacramento Film & Music Festival will kick off another exciting cinematic event for Sacramento film fans and filmmakers! Voted 'BEST SACRAMENTO FILM FESTIVAL' by the readers of the Sacramento News & Review 2006, the region's most popular film and music festival is scheduled for Wednesday, August 8th, thru Sunday August 12th, 2007, providing for 5 full days and nights of cinematic arts and musical entertainment. All screenings and special events will be held at the fabulous Crest Theater, located at 1013 K Street, in the heart of the capital city.

Over 50 independent films, music videos and documentary works will be featured onscreen, in addition to special creative programs that the festival has built a stellar reputation for, including: Sac Music Seen, where local filmmakers are paired with local musicians to create original music videos; and the 10x10 Film Challenge, a nail-biting filmmaking contest where filmmakers are given 10 days to make a 10 minute film, while incorporating a specific theme and any particular item(s) in their film, as selected by event organizers. In addition, there is a special program providing a showcase for emerging filmmakers, with the Sony Creative Software sponsored 'Student Days' film screenings/competition.

Sactown Magazine joins the Sacramento Film & Music festival as a key partner this year, and have contributed greatly to the star power and glamour of the event by coordinating a special night with Joe Carnahan, a local filmmaker whose Hollywood credits include 'Narc' and 'Smokin' Aces', and currently in production: 'Bunny Lake is Missing'. Carnahan will present a Q&A during an interview with Mark Halverson on Friday night. In addition, producers of Redwood Palms Pictures will be on hand to talk about their films and what the local production/distribution company represents to Sacramento's burgeoning film industry. Film buyers and distributors are expected to be in attendance as well, adding a whole new aspect of interest to filmmakers and to the festival's reputation as a solid, reputable event for quality films and entertainment.

Check out www.sacfilm.com for specific program schedules, details and descriptions. Mark your calendar now though, because if you are a film lover, filmmaker or arts supporter, the Sacramento Film & Music Festival is the best overall entertainment and creative event of the year.
